In today’s scientific world, there are many abnormal behaviors that are picking up great popularity as more people are getting exposed to the different phenomenon. I can recollect the information about the company Beyond Meat from one of my close friends named Timonthy Pearson. He said that, “Beyond Meat is a company with whom the scientists collaborated and have created a fake meat. It looks and tastes just like meat, but it is not really a meat.” This makes me wonder because if such a meat substitute can be created with science, then this can save us a lot of the resources that would be used to raise animals and extract the meat. Moreover, it will benefit the animals to not become extinct of their kind. This is a highly questionable step towards the sustenance of the human race and that is why it cannot happen overnight. The pros are as follows: Firstly, a plant-based diet can help people to be healthy and decrease the chances of becoming obese. Secondly, transitioning from meat to a vegetarian diet can positively impact the climate change, because of the pollutants generated from factory farming will not be harmful anymore. Finally, a vegetarian diet can improve animal welfare. Cons that can be generated for the vegetarian diet: Firstly, people will have to sacrifice their temporary happiness of hunting and eating meat. According to the author Gad Saad in his book, “The Consuming Instinct” describes the human attachment to the food. He says, “The human obsession with food manifests itself in innumerable ways. The existence of the Food Network channel is a testament to the fact. Nearly all important rituals and rites of passage incorporate food within them, be it a first date, a bar mitzvah, a family get-together (e.g., Thanksgiving dinner), friends inviting one another for dinner for their respective birthdays, and even funerals.” (Saad, p.43).
