Better Than Coffee? According to ABC News, Kyle Craig, “a musician, athlete and high-achieving student at Vanderbilt University, was the only one who saw the train coming.” In just one year, Kyle “lost his social confidence and became increasingly paranoid in an almost imperceptible downward spiral that deceived nearly everyone.” Then he stepped in front of a train to end his life at the age of 21. Kyle had become addicted to Adderall -- a drug legally prescribed for attention deficit disorder (ADHD), which helped him “stay up all night to study and perform the next day. By Friday, exhausted but eager to party, he would take more, mixing it with alcohol.” Adderall is a drug prescribed to treat Attention-Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD). I’ve watched many people go all day and night without touching food while on this drug. As young women, today are always looking for a new way to lose weight and 23% of woman are on some sort of diet (Bahadur), Adderall seems to be an easy way to get thin. One girl said, “I have been taking Adderall for three days to lose weight. It has worked, I feel full with small amounts of food. The problem is that my heartrate accelerates at times.” It is well known that Adderall increases heartrate, and few doctors would recommend Adderall for a dieting pill. As you can see using these pills as a dieting method is very unhealthy. Even worse, when you stop taking the drug, you will most likely gain all the weight you lost back. All these facts, however, will not stop anyone who is desperate enough to lose
