Do you know that you can improve your academic performance by undergoing industrial training? What is an industrial training? Industrial training or internship is a programme carried out by government and private sector which aims to offer supervised practical training within a specified timeframe. Most of the students have misconception about industrial training as they think it is a waste of time. When students went through industrial training, he or she will experience a drastic improvement in team working skill because during training, they have to cooperate with others to complete certain tasks. Moreover, students can also brush up their interpersonal and communication skills during industrial training. For instance, they have to communicate face-to-face with people instead of text messaging during training and this is an effective way to enhance communicating skills. Communication skill is one of the most important soft skills that cannot be learnt by reading. In addition, students will get a brand new experience and this will make a huge difference between those who went through industrial training and those who do not. Students get to know the essentials skills and knowledge they need in order to excel during working, hence, they will study harder to ensure that they are well qualified in their chosen field. Furthermore, they will learn some industry skills which are highly relevant to their area of study during the industrial training. These skills help students in conducting experiments in class. Students get to experience real working environment and this will help them to gain knowledge in technical works and projects. Projects or assignments are part of our syllabus in university and they own a minimum of 10% of our final result, they are as important as those tests and quizzes.
