One of the main therapeutic methods for mental health issues is cognitive behavioral therapy. I’m a huge fan of this because behavioral psychology was my major due to how fascinating it is. Cognitive behavioral therapy is basically “a type of psychotherapy in which negative patterns of thought about the self and the world are challenged in order to alter unwanted behavior patterns” Although cognitive behavioral therapy is based on the experiences themselves, it is actually more based on how we perceive those experiences. Because therapy is not perfect, you are not going to benefit from everything without making notes on what does work and also what doesn’t. When making notes try to do so as the event is happening or within a reasonable time after it occurs. Take notes about what you did and did not do. At your next session, show your therapist this information. Then you and your therapist or mental health worker can discuss why specific things are effective and what you found effective about them. To be honest the more perfect someone tries to appear too often means they usually are hiding from their unresolved issues by focusing on their putting good things on Facebook and social media outlets.
