Something I always wanted to be when I got older was a police officer. I want to be a police officer because my mother is a police officer for the city of Paterson and she inspires me to be what I want to be. I also choose to be a police officer because they make good money and and money is what I will need to be good in life. Next, being a police officer will teach me how to be brave and face my fears of of killing be people and being next to someone that is violent. Finally, me being a cop will also teach me how to follow the rules and obey the laws which is what I have trouble with now. When it comes to being a police officer no one really gets paid the same amount. The reason for that it because your pay depends on what stage you're at in your career, what platoon you in and if you are a rookie or almost retiring. An average cop makes a yearly salary of $56,260 or $27.05 a hour and that in my opinion it's enough to pay my bills, support myself and family and buy what i need to buy to keep me and my family healthy and safe. Next, after I am done with being a police officer and retire I can go to a better high paying job. In other words I can go the the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) or I can become a lawyer or a teacher and the list goes on and on. In many departments the upper class men will look at you to see if you are worthy to be one of them and see what you are willing to contribute to their department. All I can say is that I don't want to make it seem like i'm trying to be better than anybody or put them down, but I will do what I have to do to be at the top. My contributes to the police department that I choose to work at is that I will be humble and work day and night to show my boss that he didn't waste his time with me. I will also follow the rules and follow the chain of command and be myself. Then, I will show my supervisors that I am smart and know how to stay on task and that I didn't go to high school for criminal justice or college for nothing. Lastly, I will show them that I can handle this job. I will physically handle the job by going to the gym and keeping myself fit and healthy. I will mentally handle the job of being a police officer by keeping my mind off of all the negative things I hear and see and I will concentrate on my family and maybe see a
