Karli, James and Scout, in their article (2013), “Economic Validation for Performance Improvement Initiative Based on a Strategic Team Development Campaign” pose the question, “Can team development increase revenue?” Such was their study conducted at a selected major casino, and they endeavored to sample the impacts on creating teams in an organization to boost revenue. The Casino’s executive management considered the values of implementing team-building aspects, in their endeavor to improve customer services and overcome low customer turnout, owing to the low spending trends of the customers (Karli, James & Scout, 2013). Besides, owing to the numerous emerging and current casinos offering similar services, team building would aid significantly in creating a competitive advantage. Basketball is supposed to be a team sport. A team can constant of ten or twelve players but only five can compete at a team. Five players on the court working together to win. Teammates are supposed to have their teammates back. Fight to the very end for their team to get a win. This is not always true. Players have their own way of doing things. They think a team should be like this or that, but they are players who do the right things for the team. I have experienced this from my team. My teammates cab be categorized based on their performance as the “Jankin’ Jerseys”, the “Limitless LeBrons”, and the “Paparazzi Peters.”
John wooden a former player and later became a basketball coach once said. “A coach much never forget that he is a leader and not merely a person with authority.” Basketball has been something in our everyday lives for a while. To allot it something they just can't live without and others just choose to not even bother with it. I think that it is worth the time to look more into basketball. Basketball can be started at a elementary school level, and they can usually go to sign up at local boys and girls clubs maybe at their school if they offer it and can even join through their church if they attend one and they offer it to them. I was able to see my teammates’ strengths and weaknesses. I knew if the person beside me was going to be able to get to the ball or if I needed to get it. When I get to know a person I automatically look at what they are capable of doing themselves and what they might need help with. This quality is what makes me a good leader. I understand that I am not the one to score all of the points in a basketball game. I know that I don’t have to slam the ball down in a volleyball match in order to get the point. I play with a leader mindset. I know that if I get the ball to one of my teammate’s, she has the ability to drive in and score. I know that if I tip it to the outside hitter of the other team, she will be too slow to get to the ball, resulting in a point for my team. This quality also carries over into other aspects of my life such as group projects or Bible Bowl competitions. I am so grateful that I developed this mindset because I know how to make a group of people
High school basketball is not only a mental sport, but, also, a communication game. You must be able to communicate very well to play in Morgantown, West Virginia, especially at University High School. To make the team, you have to be basketball knowledgeable, talented, physically fit, and vocal. After four years of playing varsity basketball, the vocal part of the sport has helped me out in the long run.

Being the volleyball setter and basketball point guard, my coach relied on me to lead the team to work together. Striving to bring the best out of my teammates, I push everyone to be their best. Being a leader of a team, my teammates and coaches often looked upon me when a stressful environment approaches. I possess the trait that shows a fearless mentality; therefore, when times are tough, people look up to me on the court. This allows people to trust and follow my judgment.

I can add this knowledge to my sports team by understanding that by being an activator, I can help direct the team towards a common goal and help others work on problems that need to be solved. By liking consistency and being disciplined, I am able to focus on not only getting better myself, but also helping my team become stronger. I can also help my team through my “relater” quality by understanding everyone on a better level and helping them become mentally tougher. I think by having a tougher skin and being disciplined will help our team not only on the court but also in life.
Being part of the basketball clique in high school helped me learn the intrapersonal and social communication skills I use today. As a child playing basketball was my favorite activity or hobby. It's also the way I met a lot of my good friends that I have now. All my close friends I have met. I have met them through playing basketball.. Whether they were on my team, the opposing team or just fans in the crowd who admired my play. Not only has basketball helped me gain friends, but basketball also taught me a lot about life. There are many aspects of life that coincide with basketball. For instance basketball is a team game and an individual game. Like in life you have to work together with other people. The communication skills I learned from basketball helped me communicate with friends, girlfriends, parents and bosses at work.
A high school girls’ basketball team is made up of many different individuals with very different personalities. These different personalities lead to different roles on the team. These roles are evident on most teams, and each personality type contributes to the function of the team; however, some roles are not as beneficial as others.
Also, to acquire those skills, players must have plenty of practice. Basketball is an extremely quick game, and people won’t be capable of stopping the game and thinking exactly what to do and how to adjust their shot during the game. Therefore, athletes must develop muscle memory, which is doing something naturally with no thoughts, akin to riding a bike or walking. Muscle memory is developed by doing something repetitively. Hence, in a basketball game when the clock is running down, all what’s on the player’s mind, is shooting the ball and hearing the beautiful, striking sound of the net,
