Baroque Garden Design Ideas

The baroque garden concept has its origin during the Renaissance period in Italy but grew in popularity in the 15th century when France started using this interesting garden design. A baroque garden is designed using geometric shapes or irregular patterns; triangles, rectangles, circles and curved or swirly lines are used in its design. This type of garden usually requires a large area of land to accommodate the artistic and dramatic landscape. Symmetry is an important element in the elaboration of a baroque garden without it limiting the elaborate patterns in the design.

The baroque garden needs a focal point in the middle of the lot. Whetver you choose a gazebo, a statue or a fountain as a focal point, it has to be placed at the center of the garden. Have the rows of flowers and plants divided using patterns positioned to make it seem like they are paths leading to the focal point you chose. Around your focal point you can put some benches and chess tables for entertainment when you have guests over. Leave enough space around it for people to stop and stare at the view or for when you want to have a gathering with friends and you want a peaceful place to hang with them.
