Around this time US wasn’t known as a power country to most of the world. Also they were struggling with slavery and rights. US wasn’t really getting involved with anything around the world and staying to themselves. Without WW1 US most likely wouldn’t have as many rights for the “colored” then there is now. We would still have many problems without the war happening such as Women's rights wouldn’t been established at the time also the freedom of “colored” men and women wouldn’t have happened.

Militarism, Alliances, Nationalism and Imperialism played colossal roles in Europe at the time, thus being aspects that could certainly have blame placed upon. World war one a great war of powers, invoked first by serbia’s overwhelming feeling to be their own people separate from Austria-hungary which thus lead to the assassination of the archduke Ferdinand of the Austrian-hungarian empire, which then lead to all the countries allied with Austria-hungary to support Austria in it’s attack on serbia, then all the countries allied with serbia to bring up arms on Austria, and Austria’s allies. This in terms of alliances had come upon through imperialism that lead to germany already against Austria in terms of expansion.
Although The war did not accomplish any of the things that it started out to accomplish, it became a turning point in American history. Most of the issues that America started out fighting for disappeared shortly after the war, just about the same time that the indirect effects of the war were beginning to become noticeable. These direct effects mainly centered around impressment and blockades, while the indirect effects dealt mainly with the rise of Andrew Jackson, William Henry Harrison, and the decline of the Federalists. World War I changed the way other countries viewed and interacted with the United States. It was a key period because it marked the nation's debut on the world stage as a major power. One of the negative changes right after WWI were mostly negative for African Americans, immigrants, and other minorities who had social or political ideas different from the ones in America. One incident that took place in Chicago on June 1919 was when a young African American named Eugene Williams decided to go swimming by a beach along Lake Michigan. By mistake, Williams crossed over the invisible line, which was an area that was reserved for whites only. When the whites saw Williams they stoned him and eventually drowned him. Since the police refused to make any arrest both races soon started to fight against each other causing 38 deaths. This incident soon became known as "Red Summer." African Americans felt that they needed to be treated better because they also fought in the war. In a book titled Crisis a man wrote, "A land that lynches them, disfranchises them, encourages ignorance, steals from them, insults them, but they do return. We return. We return from fighting. We return from fighting. Make way for Democracy! We saved it in France, and by the Great Jehovah, we will save it in the United States of America, or know the reason why." (W.E.B. Du Bois). They tried to fight back but it was useless. The whites always outnumbered them.

World War I was the first war where the United States proved to the world we were a formidable power. Made up almost entirely of immigrants, America sent to Europe an armed force the fight against the Germans. The war brought a divided nation together as one. It represented pride and unity. The World War I victory portrayed the United States as a world superpower. Americans living in the early 1900s saw the war as a "just cause", and supported our actions abroad. World War II came just 20 years later. This time it was a single attack that drew us into the war. The Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor led us into World War II. The country furious with the cowardly assault; rallied, and stood behind the President's decision to send troops to the South Pacific and Europe. The American view on the war was very supportive. The country went to work manufacturing equipment offsetting the economic failure of the depression the United States was dealing with previous to the war.
Hitler's Aims and Actions as the Cause of World War II When considering the reasons for the outbreak of war in 1939 it is easy to place the entire blame on Hitler’s aggressive foreign policy in the late 1930s. One British historian, writing a few years after the end of the war, claimed that ‘the Second World War was Hitler’s personal war, in that he intended it, he prepared for it, he chose the moment for launching it.’ In this assignment it is my intention to show that Hitler’s foreign policy was a major factor in causing the conflict but that other reasons, both long term and short term, need to be recognised as well. Probably the first factor that need considering is the Treaty of Versailles, of 1919.

It was transformed into a general European struggle by declaration of war against Russia, and eventually became a global war involving 32 nations. Twenty- eight of these nations, known as the Allies and the Associated Powers, and including Great Britain, France, Russia, Italy, and the United States, opposed the coalition known as the Central Powers, consisting of Germany, Austria-Hungary, Turkey, and Bulgaria. World War I, was not only a dispute among nations, but also affected thousands of people from all over the world, including African Americans, women, and even business and economic changes. African Americans endured a great amount of racism during the war, especially from the military.

Back to WW1, it was also caused by imperialism and nationalism, while WW2 had appeasement of letting Germany what it wanted just to prevent another war from breaking out. In conclusion, from the points discussed and analyzed above we can conclude that both World War One and World War Two have several different causes totally unrelated to one another.
World War I marked a drastic change in African American history. The war began as a conflict between the Europeans and soon became an event with revolutionary consequences, which would have a big affect on the social, economic, and political future for the black community. The war impacted the black community of Cleveland greatly whether you were male or female, soldier or civilian. The war began in 1914 and ended in 1918, which marked one of the most dynamic periods for the African American community because of migration, racial violence, and political protest. African Americans challenged the American Government, demanded their rights as American citizens, and demanded equality both in subtle and dramatic ways. We should further our knowledge on World War I because it is important to develop a better understanding of how the war affected African Americans and the struggles they faced because of it.

My opinion is that, World War One was caused by the assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand and aggression of European nations. The Archduke Franz Ferdinand was assassinated by Gavrilo Princip. This caused a series of events between Austria Hungary and Serbia that would lead to what we know as World War One. Austria Hungary and Serbia had both made alliance agreements with other countries. After the Archdukes death these alliances were enacted. Soon afterward Austria Hungary declared war on Serbia. The Alliances "Allied powers" and "Central powers" were now both to wage war against each other. The Allied powers consisted of France, Britain, and Russia. The Central powers consisted of Germany, Austria Hungary, and Ottoman Empire. Later America would soon join the Allied powers and Italia was part of the central powers but after some of the war agreements had been broken Italia withdrew. This war would bring death, economic loses, and economic growth throughout the war. New technology would be developed not only for war but scientific advances for each country.
There were many immediate and underlying or fundamental causes of World War I. The difference between an underlying and immediate cause is that an underlying cause develops over a long period of time and indirectly leads to a specific event, and an immediate cause is a specific short-term event that directly leads to another event or series of events. While the immediate cause of World War I was the assassination of Francis Ferdinand, the archduke of Austria, by a Serbian member of the Black Hand secret society, there were various basic causes of the war. Three of them were nationalism, alliances between European powers, and militarism.

All the nations in Europe at that time were engaged in what today could only be called an arms race. As soon as one nation built a new weapon, all the others followed suit. 2. Alliance System- The building of alliances to strengthen the borders of a country. In theses alliances if one country went to war all the other countries in the alliance were forced to go to war also. 3. Imperialism- The practice of colonizing other lands by large European nations. 4.Nationalism- The feeling of Patriotism in a country that makes it compete with all other counties in the area in all areas.
