When Pranks Become Bullying
There is real bullying all around the world that can’t be stopped without professional help. Cyber bullying is different than physical bullying which is much easier to stop. I think teachers need to notice that some friends mess around different and that the real bullies can be stopped by punishments or taking away privileges. I think bullying should be based off a scale of one to ten, ten being the worst one being “did you actually care or could you see how s/he was just joking”. Punishments should also be based off a scale, if bullying reaches ten the punishment should be worse. A number one bully should still get a punishment but not as bad as a ten. Cyber bullying is much harder to punish because bullies use usernames (not real name) so the victim can’t tell who the bully is.

Cyber bullying is commonly used in Xbox Live, as an example if one person on your team makes a game costing mistake the diehard players will curse yell and tell them that they are useless and shouldn’t ever touch the game again. Experts say that bullying begins around middle school, where children are changing to young adults. In bullying there are three people involved the bully, the victim, and the bystander. The bystander also holds responsibility when bullying occurs, because they are present but never take part because they fear the intimidator. Bullying has evolved a lot in the past few years. It used to be a big kid picking on a smaller kid, then a group of friends picking on someone, now it’s all over the internet. A lot of people, especially adults don’t think of it as a problem. The more bullying happens the less we see it and do something.
We all agree that bullying is atrocious. Surveys Show That 77% of students are bullied mentally, verbally, and physically. Many schools are asking the same question: What do we do with the bullies? Many bullies end up getting kicked out of their school, because of their actions of bullying. I believe schools should not kick out bullies. Students who are found guilty of bullying other classmates should not be kicked out of school, as a consequence for their actions. If they are kicked out they: will most likely/ never improve their actions, will have a decreased level of education, and will lose self-confidence.
In school you probably remember the “odd-balls” being picked on by the “cool kids”. The bully, the victim, and the bully-victim. The bully is the person who is mistreating others by singling them out. The victim is the person on the receiving end of the mistreatment. But it does, and there are many long-term effects that come from someone being bullied. The four types of bullying include: verbal, social, physical or cyber bullying. Verbal bullying includes but is not limited to, name calling and teasing. Social bullying is spreading rumors, ignoring people and leaving them out purposely, and breaking up friendships, “just because.” Physical bullying includes but is not limited to, punching, hitting, kicking or shoving someone. Cyber bullying is using the Internet, a cellphone, an iPad, or any other electronic devices as your shield in order to deliberately cause harm to others.

Bullying is a repeated harmful act that continues to affect millions of students every year. There is no stereotypical person that is a target for bullying; anyone can be its victim. There may not always be any signs of physical harm during these attacks, but our children always suffer emotional harm. Educating students, teachers and parents seems to be the only valid solution to this problem. There are many organizations that can educate the schools on this subject but for it to work people must care. Maybe one day, when enough people realize that this problem will not go away with out their help, we can eliminate bullying from our schools.
