A penny one of the most useless objects in modern society this brown object causes more problems than solutions. It would be a smarter idea to purchase something with a rock rather than with a penny. This coin which has been in circulation for awhile and has lost its purchasing power, their is absolutely nothing that can possibly be bought with one penny. One may say that the penny only has value in numbers which is true, but in reality no one likes the person that takes out his jar of pennies at the cash register to pay for his items. The penny is no longer a necessity and terminating it would not hurt anyone, so by keeping it we create a hassle that not worth having. Pennies are not worth wasting your time on and taxpayers a paying a cost that is not worth the hassle. They state that if the penny is eliminated then charities will have no real simple way to raise money. This statement is not a good one charities have multiple ways that it could raise money efficiently. If them relying on a one cent coin to keep their foundations alive is necessary ,then they probably need to find some alternatives. Also if the the penny is eliminated we don't have phase it out entirely. They could still hold their value for a span that is seen as fit or until their is to few in circulation. This allows charities to continue their fundraisers and allows them to find alternatives for raising money. The span of time until the penny is finally a unacceptable form of payment will be unknown ,but the span in between will prove acceptable for users of the penny to figure their stuff
The Penny is a wonderful coin. It might only be worth one cent but that one cent can help people in all sought's of situations. The penny should kept in circulation. There are many people that use the penny still in today’s society.
We should keep the penny because it has history, in fact it was “the first currency authorized by the United States” (Lewis). The penny no longer has the value that it used to have, but it is still necessary to make purchases as accurate as possible. Back in the 1900’s kids all over would be so grateful to find a penny. Doing so meant they got to run to the local candy store. As source C states, “it takes nearly a dime to buy what a penny bought back in 1950.” Stores such as the Dollar Store prove how the cheapest items you can purchase are with only a dollar, not a cent. Pennies are shoved out of the economic picture by credit cards and because of the modern-day technology, there are even self-service machines that help convert coins into paper money (Source B). Not everyone agrees that the penny should be totally eliminated. No matter what your stance the penny debate is real and the United States has to make a decision one way or another.My stance is no, we don’t need the penny anymore. You can’t buy anything with it like you can with a courter. Pennies aren’t needed the price might be 0.99 cents but we have tax so it’s rounded up.I know some people collect them because they have been around forever but, they are not needed.
