College may be a big question mark for some people due to the cost which is definitely the biggest concern. Obviously schools offer scholarships and other benefits that could help you financially but they do not just hand out full ride scholarships. Scholarships must be earned in some way whether it's from good grades and high test scores or from being an amazing athlete. College is also questionable for some people because there is still no guarantee that you can find a job after college which is what makes me write about this topic. College doesn't guarantee higher pay or even a job. Yes it can make it easier but it is kind of messed up to have someone pay so much money to possibly not even find a career afterwards. Even though this has nothing to do with education studies show that 83% of college graduates live a longer and healthier life than a high school graduate. College graduates are more likely to have health insurance and retirement plans. Only 50% of high school graduates have employer supplied health insurance. The most well known advantage in life that comes with getting a college education is being able to find a job easier than someone with a high school diploma. Studies show that only 6% of college graduates were underemployed, About 12% of people with just a high school diploma which is double the percent of college graduates and of all high school dropouts 18% of them are underemployed which is triple the amount of college graduates. Obviously someone who spends thousands of dollars for a higher education is someone who expects to make more money than people who are content with just a high school diploma and in most situations that is the case. In 2013 it was shown that on average people with a bachelor's degree make about 30,000 dollars more annually than a high school graduate and 500,000 more dollars in a lifetime. The increase in earnings for someone who finishes their senior year of college is 18% percent which is a decent pay raise and even only completing your freshman year of college gets you about a 11% increase in your
