What is a health controversy? It is an issue that consists of multiple valid arguments and viewpoints on whether or not an issue is healthy for an individual. This issue about vaccination has continuously been a controversial topic in healthcare. There is an abundance of scientific evidence supporting the benefits of vaccination, but, however, parents today and some health care professionals continue to bring about doubts about the effectiveness and the safety of vaccines. But, taking all those statements into account vaccine-preventable disease continues to be a huge threat to the general public in many countries around the world such as The United States of America and Canada. According to the American Academy of Pediatrics, it states that "most childhood vaccines are 90%-99% effective in preventing disease." Despite that fact that vaccinations have such a large percentage of effectiveness, parents are still reluctant to give their children the vaccination because that small chance of them obtaining the disease is still discomforting and difficult. Although ingredients, such as thimerosal, formaldehyde, and aluminum, can be harmful in large doses they are not used in harmful quantities in vaccines. Scientist state that children of today are exposed to more aluminum in breast milk and infant formula than they are exposed to in vaccines. Also, Paul Offit, MD notes that children are exposed to more bacteria, viruses, toxins, and other harmful substances in one day of normal activity that are in vaccines. Which is an extremely striking fact to come across. Furthermore, most major medical organizations such as the World Health Organization (WHO), Public Health Agency of Canada, Canadian Paediatric Society, National Foundation for Infectious Diseases (NFID) state that vaccinations are indeed safe and they also say that vaccines are some of …show more content…

My first cousin Annabelle, who had the opportunity to live in various areas in the world because of her husband’s job, has settled down in The United States of America. She just recently started her new little family and when her new baby boy came along, she had and continues to have a difficult time deciding on if she should vaccinate for baby. Since Annabelle was a Social Worker while she was traveling the world, she also got the chance to meet with many people. She came across about five families that have been negatively by giving their child the vaccinations. But one story really stuck to her. When Annabelle was in Canada, she met a lady named Sue who told her story about her daughter. She had given her 4-month-old a line of vaccinations and two days later her had a seizer and on her way to the hospital it stops but she told her doctor that her son had vaccinations done a couple of days ago and the doctor assured her that her baby was ok and that it was a result of a fever that caused for seizer. Weeks went by and her baby didn’t have any more seizers, so a little later on she gets another two rounds of vaccinations and his seizers became more frequent as a result. From one seizer a month, to two seizers a week and to three or more per day. Then he was hospitalized for a month and screeching for answers, test after test they had none. Weeks
