“So because I’m black I can’t adopt a white baby?” Imaging going to adopt a child of a different race and being told you couldn’t because of your race. Do you think that’s fair? I want to adopt someone of a different race for a more diverse family. Transracial adoption, also known as “Biracial” or “Interracial adoption”, is the adoption of a child from a different race other than your own. As a black women I should be able to adopt whoever or whatever I please. Race should not be considered in adoption because it is unfair and a form of racism, not all people can have babies, and it creates diversity and the number of kids in foster care will decrease.
No race should be considered in adoption because it’s unfair and racist. Families considering transracial adoption should also note that adopting a child of a different race also comes with its own set of unique considerations. They should be prepared to teach their adopted child about
African American has a little less than Caucasian leaving Hispanics with the least amount. The percentages could be much higher if more people were to adopt someone from a different than their own. The percentages are low right now because so little people are even thinking about transracial adoption. What this argument does not take into account is the cons in Transracial adoption.
A large obstacle people may face when adopting a child of a different race is the acceptance of family. Prejudice, racism and many other issues can come in between the parents of adoptive children. Also feeling of isolation because when the child gets older or if they are already aged, they may feel like they are isolated from the rest of their family. This can cause depression and other negative problems in their lives. Transracial adoption is obvious and for couples that see this as a negative aspect.
