In Steve Jobs 2005 Commencement speech, he talks about the challenges he had to overcome to get where he is today. He believes that when you find something you’re truly passionate about then nothing will be able to stand in the way of your road to success. Many Americans would probably argue, “We only have one life to live and, therefore, we should live with no regrets and go after what it is that we love.” I completely understand with the concept that he’s going with, but in today’s s economy we don’t necessarily have the time that chasing our passion takes. It’s act now and make money or become homeless. That’s practically what it's come to when trying to uphold with everything in the economy. Another counter argument that might be brought up is, “So because of the economy we live in today, we should use that as an excuse to not to pursue what our career passion is?” The economy we live in is no excuse for not going after what you love, but as Jobs mentions his whole ideals of doing what you love, he makes it seem as though that no matter your love to do is, you’ll be successful in the end as long as you stay persistent and hungry for your goal. You can be so passionate towards your goal but you always have to up for any rejection and the possibility of not pursuing what you want. Whether Jobs admits it or not, we know he enjoyed all the money he made and everyone loves money, but his passion made him successful for the purpose of his goal being something that was a major deal in the making of the economies
Today´s society is filled with people that only care about money and a person's profession when it comes to valuing an individual's life. Many people think that having a lot of money, college degrees, and working for a top notch business or company defines who they are, but what about the people who may not be successful in the world's view, but are happy because they are doing what they love to do ? Steve Jobs gave a commencement speech at Stanford University, in 2005, advising the graduates to follow their passions and not to listen to other people's advice about what is valuable or not. He also advised them not to waste their time living someone else’s life. Steve Jobs advocates for individuals to have the bravery to follow your
The free enterprise system is a debatable topic because it allows for competition in the business market, which may or may not work in everyones favor. A good example would be Bill Gates, in which the enterprise system worked successfully for him and helped him become a billionaire. In a free enterprise system, producers decide everything about their products or services, including their prices, ingredients, and what they choose to do with their profits. This also gives freedom to consumers to make their own economical choices. This has allowed businesses to engage in competition, and has been beneficial to many, especially Bill Gates.
Being the richest man in the cemetery doesn't matter to me. Going to bed at night saying we've done something wonderful, that's what matters to me. - Steve Jobs.

He is essentially telling us to find what we love to do and to not settle. As Jobs explains “You’ve got to find what you love. And that is as true for your work as it is for your lovers. Your work is going to fill a large part of your life, and the only way to be truly satisfied is to do what you believe is great work. And the only way to do great work is to love what you do. If you haven’t found it yet, keep looking. Don’t settle”(Jobs). Steve Jobs means that we can’t live a life that is monotonous and that does not make us happy in our work. He continues by saying that “As with all matters of the heart, you’ll know when you find it. And, like any great relationship, it just gets better and better as the years roll on. So keep looking until you find it. Don’t settle” (Jobs). As soon as we find what we love, it will only get better with age, meaning that as time goes on, life gets better and more valuable. What a person does to make a living often defines who that person is. Because so much time and energy is invested into work, work is often seen as an extension of oneself. One of the first questions that someone asks after meeting you for the first time is about what you do for a living. The belief is that by knowing what you do, one should be able to tell something about who you are. People almost never ask the more telling question of whether or not you are happy. They rely on the nature of the occupation to tell them something about your happiness. If you are a doctor, lawyer, or celebrity, it is assumed you are happy because of the money associated with those occupations. For some, income is a determinate of happiness. Granted, money is a major determinant, but not the only determinant of happiness. Happiness on the job is better determined by the support to values that a job provides.
Also, no one wants to live a life with a occupation they don't like. Everyone should live how they want to live, live their dreams. To do that, they have to be willing to go through the hardships of life, to fail before they can succeed. No one should have to conform and just settle with something that’s not in their full potential. If you want to do something, something that’s important to you, you have to work for it.
Thomas Carlyle, a preeminent figure of the Victorian era, said, “The real desire to get work done will itself lead one to more and more to truth” (Carlyle). Many teenagers all over the world rely on jobs to earn money to do fun activities with their friends. There are also many adults who have jobs to get by in life. Along with this, there are people who have a career. The difference between the two is that people who have a job work just to earn money, but do not enjoy it. People who have have a career enjoy their jobs and are very passionate.
Republican candidate, Donald Trump is a bully, a racist, the opposite of a role model, and an individual who is completely unfit to serve as commander in chief and to hold the title as The President of the United States. It is necessary to label Trump as hazardous, plain and simple. Our families and society as a whole need to fully comprehend the danger and the threat this man poses to us all. In addition, candidate Trump is putting the persona of our great country in jeopardy.
Although Steve Jobs was known for being very demanding, this was primarily because of his great vision. His vision is what drove him to do great things and it is also what drove his employees and follwers. Jobs was always thinking of the future, he had a clear idea of what he wanted to accomplish in all of his business ventures. For example, when Jobs left Apple, he bought a small animation company called Pixar. Jobs had a clear vision and believed that Pixar would be very successful. His investment and vision in the company proved to be right when Pixar’s first film, “Toy Story”, was a blockbuster and broke records. This investment made Steve Jobs a billionaire. This achievement, and all of Jobs’ achievements, are due to his clear vision in everything that he set himself to do. Steve jobs once said, “If you are working on something exciting that you really care about, you don’t have to be pushed. The vision pulls you.” This is highly evident in Jobs’ entire career, his vision is what pushed him and what inspired his many
What makes a good person good? According to WikiHow, "We should learn to define our own morals ourselves. One of the simplest ways to do so is to love others, and treat them as you would like to be treated. Try to think of others before yourself. Even doing small things daily will greatly enrich and improve your life, and the lives of others around you." This quote shows us what we need to do in order to be what society thinks as, “good". In order to be a good person, you have to do good and moral things in your society consistently. However people might think that by doing one good thing once in a while will automatically make you a “good person”, but in reality it doesn’t.
“But most people have multifaceted interests and abilities and could probably be successful and happy in several fields,” notes McCoy. Reasoning with options, interests, and abilities provides a wide range of career paths and prevents one from becoming limited to a simple passion or love desired career path. When one is reasonable with abilities and interests in different career options, it is easier to find a career especially in the economy of the United States today. Susanne Peckham states, “During the past couple of years, college graduates have faced a very challenging job market.”(Peckham.2011) This elaborates on McCoys questioning of the commencement speakers advice to students to ‘Do What You Love’ during such a “tough labor market” (McCoy.2013). Reasoning with one's interests and options leads to a well thought out career path that provides what one needs to make an
