As kids are growing up, they hear from their parents constantly to find a good job. When parents are saying this, are they referring to the idea of finding a job that will keep their children financially stable or are they referring to them finding a job they’ll love waking up in the morning for? In Steve Jobs 2005 Commencement speech, he talks about the challenges he had to overcome to get where he is today. He believes that when you find something you’re truly passionate about then nothing will be able to stand in the way of your road to success. He stands for the idea of finding a job that you’ll love waking up in the morning for rather than just to gain money. Many Americans would probably argue, “We only have one life to live and, therefore, we should live with no regrets and go after what it is that we love.” I completely understand with the concept that he’s going with, but in today’s s economy we don’t necessarily have the time that chasing our passion takes. It’s act now and make money or become homeless. That’s practically what it's come to when trying to uphold with everything in the economy. Another counter argument that might be brought up is, “So because of the economy we live in today, we should use that as an excuse to not to pursue what our career passion is?” The economy we live in is no excuse for not going after what you love, but as Jobs mentions his whole ideals of doing what you love, he makes it seem as though that no matter your love to do is, you’ll be successful in the end as long as you stay persistent and hungry for your goal. You can be so passionate towards your goal but you always have to up for any rejection and the possibility of not pursuing what you want. Whether Jobs admits it or not, we know he enjoyed all the money he made and everyone loves money, but his passion made him successful for the purpose of his goal being something that was a major deal in the making of the economies
