Protesting should not lead to the destruction of cities. My problem most certainly shouldn’t lead to the senseless killing of police officers either. However, just because a person is suspected of committing a crime doesn’t mean it’s okay for the officers to shoot unarmed people. Police officers’ jobs are to protect and detain people. It is no their job to determine if someone is guilty. Therefore, the argument that Mike Brown was killed due to him previously being accused of robbing a store is irrelevant. Officers were approaching Brown on the street, with no apparent weapons. If he did refuse to surrender, why not use a stun gun, or detain him in another manner. In addition, his solution to ensure better relationships between law enforcement and citizens couldn’t necessarily work. He implies that police departments should hire officers that matches the main race of the city. This wouldn’t work because we can’t hire people solely on race. Matching the majority of race to officers’ races wouldn’t guarantee other groups of people would no longer encounter police violence as
