Argumentative Essay On Animal Testing

880 Words2 Pages

Animal Testing For many years now, animals have been used for testing and experimentation. Many organizations like PETA and the ARF (Animal Rescue Foundation) strongly oppose the topic of animals being experimented on. Many people are against animal testing as a whole because not only does it harm animals, but many times they may be killed. There have been many countless years and protests against testing, and they deserved to be heard and listened to. People have begun to realize that not only does animal testing harm and kill animals every year; it has been pretty much useless. Animal testing hasn’t been beneficiary towards any scientific breakthrough or discovery. Elias Zourhini says, “Animal testing has been useless” he is one of the main people who are strongly making a push to try and stop animal testing as a whole. “There have been thousands of dead and injured animals in the past years or so and there has been any reward or safety ensured because of these animals. Animals have been being used for testing for many years now, and especially now, the number of animals that are being used to be experimented on are extremely high. However, you may not know that laboratories aren’t required to publish how many animals they used or how many experiments conducted. Maybe that would help to find out especially what animals need to be strongly protected against testing. “Every laboratory should publish an annual statement setting forth plainly the number and kind of experiments and the methods of conducting them” (Gould qd. in Leffingwell 211). This would help many things and especially organizations that are protesting, to give reasons and facts about testing. Animals are used and then unaccounted for. "This would be the most revolutionary type of alternative, especially for human related experiments"(). In conclusion, animal testing has been overused for too long. Nothing essential has been the outcome of it, and no scientific breakthrough has stopped anything from damaging us. The many, many animals are mistreated, many times killed. They need to begin to establish a more protective act, just like the AWA, however this time, it should strive to protect the majority of the animals used, so they can live safely. Finally, if we are able to find and develop successful alternatives to all animal testing, it might be gone forever. If all of these things can come together and make it happen, we may be able to see the day where all animals are treated ethically and with sheer, utter, respect.
