American College Opportunities They say, “an investment in knowledge is the best interest” and that “the American dream is the dream of a land in which life should be better and richer and fuller for everyone, with opportunity for each according to ability or achievement.” We live in a country where people dream to have ability to reach a greater achievement. America is known as the land of opportunities but sometimes those opportunities do come with a cost. To make that American dream come true I believe it should make certain opportunities easier for people. When it comes to college, I believe college tuition should be way affordable. Unfortunately, many people can't afford the high price to go even with the help of finically aid and other resources. Depending on the college it could cost about 30,000 dollars per year. College tuition is at its ultimate high right now. It's 400 times more expensive to go to college today than it was 30 years ago in the United States. Fortunately, there are other ways to make college cheaper for one but it's not always what it seems. Luckily today students can apply for scholarships to help pay for college. But statistics say only .3% of students will get a full ride scholarship for college and “every 10 scholarships a student applies for, they'll receive 1 award for.” Even work-study programs can also help but with so many students on campus and so little job opportunities it’s not fully possible to give everyone a job on their school campus. Then there's the third option joining the military. Which joining the military, for some people aren't mentally or physically capable for it. Even with all the help and resources to make college cheaper it's not always a big help for everyone. Which is why I believe ultimately college tuition should be cheaper. It would make it fair and easier so that everyone can afford
