The first time I watched a horror movie I felt fear. A Lot like other people, after I watched the movie I wouldn't want to be left alone. Horror movies make us scared of things that aren't supposed to be scary in the first place like clowns or children asking to play. Even though movies make us feel this way after watching them we still craved more movies like it. Everytime I watch a horror movie I want to watch another one right after. why do we crave horror movies even though it makes us feel this way? Scary movies allow us to enter into an alternate reality that gives us an adrenaline rush. In horror movies and stories the characters are far from normal. For one thing , at the end of the story , the narrator says”this morning’s paper says a girl was killed on the new sharon campus near civil war cannons. She was killed last night and found in a melting snow bank. She was not all there.”(strawberry spring). In addition he says” i've been thinking about that foggy night when i had a headache and walked for air and passed all the lovely shadows without shape or substance. And i’ve been thinking about the trunk of my car-such an ugly word , trunk-and wondering why in the world i should be afraid to open it.”(strawberry spring, king). To clarify , from a different essay, stephen king states “ ..No matter how far we may be removed from the beauty of Robert Redford or a Diana Ross, we are still light-years from true ugliness”.(why we crave horror movies,king). In the story,Strawberry Springs, the reader can compare themselves to the main character. We as viewers may not be perfect but we are not doing things as bad as what we are watching.
