What makes a sport a sport? A sport is an athletic activity that requires skill or physical prowess. It is often a “competitive” type such as racing, baseball, tennis, golf, bowling, wrestling, boxing, etc. When it comes to video games is their a thought that maybe playing games can be considered an actual sport. Many people will agree that gaming should be considered a sport and many will disagree.

Gaming requires tremendous amount of skill and strategy. It can either be played individually or with a team. Professional players train for months on end, showing strong mental focus, quick reaction time, and extreme dedication when they compete.

eSports or electronical sports is what competitive players or professionals like to call it. Competitive gaming has been around since the days of Pong in the 1970s. Pong is one of …show more content…

One being Call Of Duty and the other Counter Strike Global Offensive. FaZe is another organization that is equal to OpTic Gaming. In which they have two teams that play the same games.

Matt Haag formerly known as OpTic NaDeSHoT, was a professional player for OpTic Gaming. It was reported that Matt made one million dollars in the year of 2014. Currently Matt is a successful youtuber with over 3 million subscribers across both of his channels. He is currently sponsored by RedBull. He has competed in the first X Games for Call Of Duty in 2014 and took home a gold medal.

In 2014 there was nearly 205 million viewers that watch eSports according to NewZoo. In 2013 popular game LoL (League Of Legends) attracted 32 million live viewers during the World championships. That’s more than double baseball’s World series. It even triumphed game seven in the NBA finals. The League of Legends World championship attracted up to 40,000 fans to Sangam stadium in Seoul in 2014. That stadium hosted the football World cup semi-finals
