Apollo Is Better Than The Moon

In the Greek world, there are many deities you can worship. In spite of that, there are only twelve main deities known as the Olympians. The Olympian gods are the most powerful and influential gods in all of ancient Greece, with temples and sacred sites in their names everywhere. However, some are more superior to others. When we look at the Olympian deities, we begin to wonder which one is better. In the sibling pair of Apollo and Artemis, one may say the sun is better than the moon, and it is true in this case. Apollo is the superior sibling due to his power and protective nature, his responsibility and constant involvement with people, and his ability to greatly help his friends and smite his enemies.

When the two siblings were in their youth, the goddess Hera was determined to hunt and kill their mother for giving birth to them. According to her, “Leto had to be punished for tempting Zeus into infidelity.” To accomplish this task, she sent the dragon Python to chase Leto across the world. While Artemis stood back and did not intervene with Hera’s wishes, Apollo came forth to aid his mother. He shot down and slayed the Python. Since Python was a child of the Earth goddess Gaia, he willingly took full responsibility for his actions

Being the god of medicine and plague, Apollo can keep his followers healthy and shoot down all enemies with arrows of plague and sickness. Hermes, his half-brother, witnessed first-hand how much of a threat Apollo can be when he states, “I stole his cattle once. Never again. I had to trade the lyre for my life. Being ill for an eternity is not a pleasant option when you are immortal.” When one does fall ill, however, Apollo can cure them without anything in return. The same cannot be said of Artemis, who always requires payment in return for her services. Apollo is a god who is willing to aid anyone in need, without any strings
