The process for a new AP physics teacher has begun underway with Eric Mazur, Walter Lewin, John Belcher, and David Hammer assisting me to find a new teacher to replace Dr. Navarra. Eric Mazur begins by stating how this new teacher should be good at explaining concepts. “The goal of every teacher is to make sure the students understand the concepts being taught to them only then will they truly enjoy and get the content of the course.” Everyone looks at professor Mazur with looks of agreement and David Hammer then says, “The teacher that we hire should be familiar with modeling instruction since it’s an effective way for students to understand the concepts.” John Belcher replies with, “The new teacher should be familiar with technology for two reasons. …show more content…

Reason number two is that Dr. Nagler is big on technology so it’ll be a double bonus if the new teacher is flexible with the new technology.” Walter then adds on how the new teacher should have a good amount of qualifications. “Physics isn’t easy to teach you got to truly know the content and help others know the content. Lectures are helpful too in helping students learn if done correctly. Quick demonstrations and demos should be done in helping the students grasp concepts like newton’s laws. Lastly, I think the new teach should have a decent sense of humor since if the kids find him boring they’ll find physics boring.” After everyone from the search committee had a chance to speak about qualities of potential candidates everyone then began to find similarities in what they found necessary and went off there. Everyone agreed that the new teacher should be smart when it comes to using technology since both reasons provided by John Belcher were enough to satisfy everyone about that
