Anne Frank: Are People Really Good At Heart?

The Holocaust was a traumatizing time for specific people and these people are the innocent jewish. If you remember the most innocent of them all, you would remember Anneke Frank or Anne. She said this famous quote, ¨ In spite of everything , I still believe people are really good at heart .¨ I would most definitely agree with Anne Frank based on Peterś actions. Everyone does everything for a reason. We all have different beliefs, naturally, just as Hitler did. But, I could also see how some would disagree with Anne, considering Mr. Van Daanś selfish actions. There were many good hearted acts that would make you so happy, but, when Peter was there for Anne when she needed him the most, it was very heartwarming. I think that some people think that people aren't always good at heart due to Mr. Van Daanś actions in the play. On page 120, the narrator states, ¨He goes to the food cupboard under the sink and again lights the match. Then he cautiously opens the cupboard and takes out a half loaf of bread. As he closes the cupboard, it creaks.¨ This was a very surprising act of Mr. Van Daanś. This shows that he is a very greedy and selfish man. He was instead of caring for his own son, but, was trying to kick his son out for loving his cat while his dad was trying to blame the cat for the lack of food. He is a bad example of everyone being good at heart. He would rather be full of food, instead of taking care of his own family. He is most definitely a bad example of how to be a husband and for sure a father. But, while this is all happening what is everyone else doing? They are following the rules and keeping each other safe. Although Mr. Van Daan stole extra food in the night, he was hungry just like everyone else and it was going to happen. But, you should not say that people aren’t good at heart because of it. I still agree with
