Animals all have basic rights that should be respected no matter the situation; dogs and cats, to highlight, are ideal pets that are actually considered to be part of the family by 36% of American pet owners, according to a Poll released by Associated press- Petside.com. With this in mind, it is crucial to recognize; animal cruelty continues on to this day and not enough has been done to stop it permanently. Although the world demands selfishly for miracle cures and instant drugs to heal all variety of misfortunes, there is a lack of volunteers willing to go trough the pain and dangers of the experiments to find the cures or prescriptions. Animals need to be part of the environment to get the safety and happiness they desperately deserve. The world needs to learn that animal testing has an abundance of cruelty, it is shameful to harm animals and make them go trough all the pain and trouble they have already suffered trough. “Studies by the Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine, a group that opposes animal testing, have shown that chimpanzees used in animal tests can exhibit symptoms of post-traumatic stress disorder, a condition more commonly associated with soldiers who have experienced deadly combat.” These chimpanzees unwillingly became the subjects to the harsh experiments, and it has caused them to develop the same amount of stress as soldiers, who painfully see death and despair in the battlefield. Society needs to understand that animal’s rights must be considered for their best interest regardless of how valuable it may be to us, animals must be treated as any other human wishes to be treated. “The worst sin toward our fellow creatures is not to hate them, but to be indifferent to them. That is the essence of inhumanity” A social movement is really the only change that could help these oppressed creatures, for all the times they have been abused, neglected, or tested on. Throughout history, the world has fortunately become more open minded and considerate of others rights and needs, it is time for the world to see that animals must be treated with more respect than what they have been treated with in the past. “It is true, therefore, that women do not exist to serve men, blacks to serve whites, the poor to serve the rich, or the weak to serve the strong.
