Would animals enjoy a distopia or a utopia? In Animal Farm, the animals go through this three times around. Depending on who is in charge, depends on if the animals are in a distopia or utopia. In Animal Farm, going from distopia to utopia back to distopia is extremely hard on the animals.
Mr.Jones, for example, was having a distopia which is harming the animals. "Mr.Jones, of Manor Farm had locked the hen-houses for the night, but was too drunk to remember to shut the popholes." (pg 3) In this passage, it shows how Jones doesnt check on his animals. "As for the dogs when they grow old and toothless, Jones ties a brick round their necks and drowns them in the nearest pnd." (pg 9) Instead of letting the dogs die on their own, he helps them. "In past years Mr.Jones, although a hard master, has been a capable farmer, but of late he had fallen on evil days." (pg 18) This sentence shows Jones knew how to have a utopia but soon drifted to a distopia. Unlike Mr.Jones, Snowball made a utopia for the farm animals. …show more content…

"With some difficulty, Snowball climbed up and set to work, with Squealer a few rungs below holding the paint-pot." (pg 24) The passage shows Snowball with Squealers help, are making the seven commandments. "Every mouthful of food was an acute positive pleasure, that it was truly their own food, produced by themselves and for themselves, not doled out to them by a grudging master." (pg 28) The sentence shows how the animals are living in a utopia even though the animals knew it was not possible. "After Snowball found the fabric for the flag, the animals got togther for a meeting as normal." (pg 30-31) The flag represent animals with power showing the animals overthrew the humans. Soon after snowball was ran off, Napoleon took over and destroyed the utopia Snowball
