Analysis Of V For Vendetta

"Remember, remember the fifth of November, the Gunpowder Treason and plot.” These are just the few words that were said in the very beginning of the movie V For Vendetta. This movie’s genres are action film, thriller and science fiction. November 5 seems like a normal date to many societies, but the specialty of this date is very unique. November 5 is the day Guy Fawkes attempted to blow up the Britain parliament, but failed miserably. V For Vendetta initially tells the story of a young female that goes by the name Evey Hammond is saved from a life-or-death situation by a man in a Guy Fawkes mask who calls himself V. She learns a common summary of his past and how he came through to who he is. V uses terrorist tactics to fight the tyrants

“Ideas never truly die”. This can easily be the message of the story because V is frankly finishing up what Guy couldn’t accomplish stating that ideas never really die unless there is so determination and responsibility is taken. Another very important message throughout this film is that individuals needs to fight to preserve their own identities. I believe this is quite important because an identity for an individual is what makes them unique. In the film V For Vendetta, the director, James McTeigue uses many symbols, costumes, and dialogue to clearly state the idea of everyone having a right to individuality and to resist forced conformism. The first important symbol used in the film is V’mask. Masks often symbolize for a individual hiding their identity. Another important symbol is the usage of mirrors. In the beginning of the film, both V and Evey put on their masks for the evening and they often symbolize an unknown identity. The costumes were changed mainly focusing on Evey because that shows her will power to keep moving forward to protect her own identity and to not be fearful.
