The beloved movie musical ‘The Rocky Horror Picture Show’ is finally getting the remake treatment.
After nearly ten years of speculation, the project has finally been picked up by Fox, with famed director and choreographer Kenny Ortega at the helm. Since the original film was released in 1975, fans have completely taken over the film, attending audience participation screenings all around the world for over forty years. So it’s no wonder that the news of a remake has garnered serious backlash.
‘Rocky Horror’ tells the story of young couple Brad and Janet (played in this version respectively by Ryan McCartan and Victoria Justice). Their car breaks down in the middle of nowhere, and take refuge in a castle straight out of a Hammer horror flick. There they

“I cannot believe how true they were to the show and the original,” said one fan in Fox’s Fan Reaction video. “When it ended, I almost cried. Like, ‘no please! I want more!’”
Even Tim Curry has demonstrated approval towards the reboot. The original Frank N Furter makes an appearance as the Narrator in the new TV movie, a part played by Charles “No Neck” Gray in the 1975 film. At the recent TCA panel, Curry was asked if he gives his endorsement for Ortega’s vision, to which he answered, “I do, indeed.”
As a whole, Fox’s ‘Rocky Horror Picture Show’ is somehow both different and similar enough to the original for it to work. After all, ‘Rocky Horror’ has been performed as a stage play across the world, most notably in the current UK tour (which was recently broadcast live on BBC and in cinemas across Europe). It seems as though the general consensus is keeping an open mind, which is already a good sign. Hopefully the new ‘Rocky Horror’ will live up to expectations, and maybe encourage an entire new generation to do the Time Warp
Even though this movie is based in real events, but some scene that appear in the film it just give the movie more action and drama. Alan Parker and the writer Chris Gerolmo wanted to the viewers and critics to be able to think and analyze the movie. I think they added other actors to make the movie intense and to add talk about scene. From experience this was an outstanding film.
In my opinion, Shrek The Musical was a great play that brought the childhood fairytale story of Shrek to life on stage. The costumes, props, and backgrounds on the set were well made and it was obvious that much time and effort were put into the play. The story of Shrek was brought to life on Broadway and was very realistic and produced very well.
“And the Band Played On” was an HBO movie that illustrated the AIDS crisis in the 1980s and early 1990s. The movie touched on subjects concerning the reaction of the gay community, the heterosexual community, and the medical community. It showed not only the research in AIDS, but also the way that the US government dealt with it. The movie expressed the consequences the gay community suffered, the plight of the medical community in researching the disease, and the issue of government response to it.
The movie was made in 2015-2016, and it currently available in theater all over america.
The movie It was a good remake of the original movie that came out in 1990. When I saw the movie I thought it was good Film but I did think some parts of the movie was dumb. I did think the kids were good actors especially when they feared of pennywise and well that’s because while acting because they were scared. In the 2017 movie pennywise is a very scary clown, but you see there is a reason why pennywise is a clown. Pennywise is monster that takes the form of a clown to lure in children and it did that in the 90s. But in the 2017 version the clown is too scary to lure anyone in his traps. That’s why pennywise in the new version doesn’t work here. I do think the story is better than the original, but you do question some things.
Richard O’Brien’s Rocky Horror Show, as performed by Curtain Call Community Theater, had the crowd shivering with antici¬—SAY IT!—pation. After popping a tire in the middle of nowhere, the newly engaged Brad Majors and Janet Weiss decide to walk through the pouring rain to a nearby castle, or, as they describe it, the Frankenstein Place. All they want is to use the phone, but they end up getting more than they bargained for when they stumble upon the Transylvanian Convention. At the castle Brad and Janet meet Riff Raff and Magenta, the servants of the castle; Columbia, a groupie; Eddie, a delivery boy who botched his delivery; Dr. Frank-N-Furter, a transvestite mad scientist; and Rocky, Frank’s creation. A few musical numbers, sexual encounters,
The Lion King musical is a well-known musical that has taken the stages of Broadway, West End and the rest of the world by storm (The Lion King, 1997). Regarding the process of the musical, Artistic Director Julie Taymor’s first thoughts for choosing the Lion King as the next big thing on stage, was classed as ‘impossible’ due to the film’s lack of theatrical material (The Lion King, 1997). Therefore, staging this particular work contained a great deal of uncertainty and the need for taking huge risks. Taymor (1997) suggests how ‘the Lion King was the worst idea possible to create a stage show.’ It has become evident that a number of significant barriers had to be overcome to secure the practicality of the production. In view of this controversy, this dissertation will critically analyse the success of the Lion King by exploring two significant aspects that have helped to make the musical a success. Firstly, the essential components that make up this theatrical production will be explored and secondly, the roles of each producer within the Lion King and their combined and individual influences they have had from the production will be evaluated. By analysing these two central themes, this paper will show how and why this musical has developed and achieved its phenomenal success.
Broadway Idiot is a documentary that follows the process of turning the iconic songs of Green Day’s Billie Joe Armstrong into a Broadway musical. Personally, I found the transformation of these well known songs into a musical fit for Broadway to be the most interesting part of developing a new theater work. Due to the band’s immense popularity, the audience was already familiar with the works of Green Day and the job of director Michael Mayer was largely just to do the songs justice. The documentary gave insight to the immense amount of work it takes to put together an entirely new show- from composing new arrangements of classic songs, to adapting those songs to fit the desired storyline, to designing the intricate set which included forty
I honestly think that the original suits it better because of how moving the music is with the ballet. The rhythm of the music is perfect of the dances. While is Disney version
Something else I found interesting was the casting.although not all of the people who originally were cast was in the movie I still thought it was great. I accually thought that it was better. The roles were played in this irder;Shia Labeouf as Samm Witwicky,Rosie Huntington-Whiteley ...
I really have praised the original a lot. At a brisk 75 minutes, there’s no waiting for great juicy suspense, even if it minimizes on plot development. This is not so in the ’56 version, but there is much to admire about the remake and value over the original.
This past March I visited Universal Studios in Orlando, Florida for the first time in years. As all things, it has changed drastically over time. Some rides remained the same, but others not so much. Universal Studios is a magical place to begin with, but add in two separate Wizard Worlds and you’ll be begging for more. As I have grown, I was never interest in Harry Potter; however, after only one day running through the Wizard World I was hooked. I couldn’t wait to get my hands on the books and movies. First, I dove into Harry Potter and The Sorcerer’s Stone by J.K. Rowling. Then, to complete the first pieces in the series, I watched Harry Potter and The Sorcerer’s Stone directed by Chris Columbus. Both pieces were exceptional and I enjoyed both; however, I believe the movie is slightly better.
In the movie And the Band Played On, stakeholders’ interests stymied public health efforts to research and implement health policy to control the rapidly emerging disease, acquired immune deficiency syndrome (AIDS). The stakeholders within the movie, those whose interest would be impacted by policy change, included the affected populations, scientists, state and federal public health officials, and organizations including blood banks. Early in the epidemic, the Center for Communicable Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) were tentative in disclosing vital information – many homosexual men were becoming infected in the bathhouses (Pillsbury, Sanford, & Spottiswoode, 1993). Despite having the supporting evidence of patient zero and a sexual cluster
It’s actually a welcome relief not to have the cut-camera-every-two-seconds action that seems to feature on all big screens today. You have time to appreciate the post-eighties, shoulder-padded, sequin outfits that Whitney pulls off marvellously in the film and of course her succession of hits from Queen of the Night to I’m Every Woman.
