The novel “Once” by Morris Gleitzman takes place in Poland in the time of the Holocaust. The Holocaust is the time when Hitler’s Nazis and people who supported them executed 6 million Jews (⅔ of all the Jews in Europe). ‘Once’ is the story of a Jewish Boy named Felix who lives in a Catholic Orphanage whose parents were missing due to the Nazi’s. Felix was one of the hundreds of Jewish children whose parents have been killed or taken to Concentration Camp. Hitler didn’t like the Jews because he thought that they were responsible for Germany being defeated World War II. Hitler also didn’t like the Jews because he thought that Jews killed Jesus.
