Which lip balm formulation will provide better moisturization, feel, taste and smell?
Hypothesis
If each lip balm has different ingredients and formulation, then the results for each lip balm will turn out differently; the moisturization, taste, feel and smell will all be different.
Background Research
Lip balm was invented by Dr. Charles Brown Fleet. He invented it in the 1880’s as a way to moisturize your lips. Lip balms seal your lips to protect it from losing its own moisture. Lips cannot make its own oils to keep your skin moisturized. Applying lip balm is important for overall health because skin on your lips is like none other on the body. They were all able to moisturize the subjects’ lips, but at different levels. The surveys the subjects filled out showed that each lip balm had good moisturization. As suspected, The Peppermint Lip Balm, which included beeswax, almond oil and shea butter provided the best moisturization and feel. The other two were close behind. The Kiwi Strawberry Lip balm, which contained beeswax and almond oil, and the Pina Colada lip balm, which contained beeswax and Shea butter had almost identical results in the moisturization and feel category. (All products contained the same amount of beeswax). Essential Oils (Peppermint, Strawberry Kiwi and Pina Colada) were added to give the lip balms a nice fragrance and taste. The subjects surveys showed that they agreed that all 3 lip balms had a nice smell but, the essential oils did not come through too well in taste.
A third of the way through the experiment a problem was encountered. One of the subjects got sick and was only able to provide feedback on the Peppermint lip balm. The experiment than switched over to another subject who completed feedback on the two other lip balms. Another problem that was encountered, was that one of the subjects did not like the
