Code Of Honor is a story written by Alan Gratz. Code Of Honor is about a teenage boy named Kamran Smith who is a senior in high school. Kamran’s father is a Christian man who was born in the United States while Kamran’s mother was born in Iran and raised as a Shia Muslim. Kamran has one brother named Darius, he serves in the United States Military and was deemed a terrorist after footage was shown of him committing a mass shooting for Al-Qaeda. Kamran knows Darius would not commit this act of treason out of his own will and he will do anything to prove his brother's innocence. At this moment, in the story it is seen that Kamran has begun to take very unethical courses of action, to prove his brother is not a terrorist he does whatever he must do. Throughout the book Alan Gratz develops Kamran Smith using indirect characterization. For you to understand Kamran, you must be able to understand his personality through the actions he takes. Throughout the story Kamran must mature very quickly if he is to survive the adventure that awaits him. When the story begins Kamran is living the life any teenager would dream of having. As time goes on Kamran must realize that in order to prove his brother's innocence he may lose his own life in the process. When this comes into play, Kamran must learn that he may have to kill someone if he wishes to stay alive. Throughout the course of the book Kamrans primary goal it to clear his brother's name and to prove that he is not a terrorist.
