INTRODUCTION
Environment is the sum total of all surroundings of a living organism that provides conditions for growth and development. The natural environment includes all living and non-living things occurring naturally on Earth. It is an environment that encompasses the interaction of all living species. It can be divided into two components:
1. Non-living
2. Living
The environment provides resources that help in supporting life on Earth and leads to growth of living organisms. Human beings hold an important and unique position in the nature due to the exceptional ability to influence the environment.
• Importance of Environment
Environment plays an important role in all aspects of life as living beings depend largely on environment. The components like air, water, soil, food etc. that are necessary for survival are provided by the environment. Therefore, all the major development activities of living organisms like survival, reproduction, growth etc. are done under the environment.

• Reasons to protect environment

1. It saves money:
The less food, clothes and goods are wasted, the less they are bought. The more the environment is protected, the less cost can be incurred in replacing roads, trees etc. and relocate people from disaster areas.

2. It makes us healthy: Many diseases are caused by the insects that live in dirty and waste filled environment and affects the health of the people and the food they eat. For the proper waste management should be done.

Expected limitation: There are various locations that are out of the reach of regulatory bodies where industries exist and carry out practices that are harm the environment but still the regulatory bodies cannot do anything as those industries are not a part of the jurisdiction. Therefore it forms a major part of the concern to work for those areas and industries where regulatory bodies cannot approach and alternates must be derived to curtail the practices harming the environment.
