In today’s world, America would not be who they are if immigrants did not come when they needed help. Plenty of different races come into America for finding a better life and hope to gain the American Dream. When Immigrants gain the American Dream, they help the country out for the acceptance into this country. Unfortunately, these immigrants have been bashed with a racist comment and been discriminated by the citizens of America. Immigrants have helped shaped American Culture and Identity by facing the reality of racism and discrimination.
In the essay “Mother Tongue” Amy Tan, the author, emphasizes the point of her mother not being able to speak English and when entering stores, people treating her differently. The English spoken by Tan’s mother is not the best spoken English but it's normal for Tan to understand.
