Keratin helps tissues not get ruined from touching other things. If someone were to scratch their head, keratin would help protect the hair, skin, or nails. There are two types of keratins. Type I and Type II. Type one is located in a cluster on top of the chromosome. Type II is located on chromosome 12. There are many different types of keratins found in many different tissues. It has a very durable and flexible structure. It is insoluble in water. When people straighten their hair, the keratin breaks, damaging the human hair.
