Ally Condie’s book Reached is a dystopian book taking place in the Desert and in Big cities of the past such as: the big apple and Chicago. This novel is about how Cassia and Ky keep getting separated from each other. It goes on to tell how “The Rising”, a rebellion is almost ready to take over the society as a whole. At this time Cassia is working as a sorter and trading with archivists. Ky is flying planes to big cities to give medicine to the sick. Xander is on the inside working on healing people who are infected with the disease.

The climax of the novel is when Ky comes down with the deadly illness that could take his life. There seems to be no cure to save him and it is up to the few people in a small village to find the cure before he dies. After they think they find the right cure it turns out that they don’t. Due to careful sorting done by Cassia they are able to find the flower that they need to save Ky. Just when they think it is going to be all right a trusted member of the farmers slashes all the IV bags almost killing the sick people. They get there just in time to save Ky and the others.

Ally Condie explained the scenery very well, so much so that you could almost see and feel it. She also did a great job switching the narrative from the characters so that you got a sense of all of
