1. Consider the action: in one or two sentences, summarize the plot. The writer introduces a widow known as Paolo Saverini, her son Antoine Saverini, and his dog Semillante. They live in a small town called Bonifacio located in France. Paolo’s son was murdered in the town by Nicolas Ravolati, the body was then taken to the widow’s house. While grieving his death, she swore to avenge her son’s death by any means necessary. She then executes her plan by training the dog to kill her son’s murderer. 2. Determine all of the story's conflicts. Determine the major conflict and state this in terms of protagonist versus antagonist. Moreover, she planned to avenge her son death which was another conflict, as stated by the writer “stretching out her wrinkled hand over the body, she swore vendetta against him”, which shows that Paolo was old and feeble. Furthermore, there was no man available to carry the vendetta, thus, she had to train the dog to help her. 3. Identify the important turning points of the story. Which would be the climax, the point that determines the outcome? In my opinion, there are three main turning points of the story, these are: (1) The death of her Paolo’s only son and company in her home. (2) The plan to avenge the death (3) The actual execution of the plan. The climax of the story “A Vendetta” was the widow disguised as a man travels to the accused workshop with the dog.
