Allusion is defined as a reference in literature to something outside the text these are made to popular culture, fairy tales, mythology, and the Bible. There are many allusions in hamlet two of them stood out out and was familiar. My first allusion is based on the life of a mortal to a god Hercules. My last allusion is based on the play Murder of Gonzago. Therefore these two allusions are related to Hamlet. Hercules is a Greek mortal that becomes a god by completing the twelve labours. Hercules has an uncle named Hades and his father and mother Amphitryon and Alkmene. Hades always was jealous of what his brother and his nephew had. Hades tries to kill Hercules. Hades was always jealous of his brother so he wanted to figure out a way to get back at him. Hades tries to kill Hercules by making him human and then making a poisonous snake to come kill him. In hamlet King Claudius killed King Hamlet by pouring poison into his ear while he was sleeping. King Claudius told everyone in town that he was killed by a snake because he was sleeping in the garden supposedly. King Claudius ends up being the King of Norway with King Hamlet's wife which makes her King Claudius his wife. The appreciation of the solution is that both uncles try to take over their brothers kingdom by killing them. Hamlet decides to add some parts of which King Claudius has done to his dead dad. As Hamlet is making player one read his script and the play together the reader starts to cry. Hamlet is thinking to himself why hasn't he cried over this yet. This allusion is so intense because King Claudius killed his brother.
