Have you ever wondered the truth about Al Capone? Al Capone is known as a ruthless gangster who dominated Chicago in the roaring 20’s. This essay will carry the reader through a glimpse into Al Capone’s history, from his early life, his career and how he impacted American history. Early years for Al Capone were where his fall to crime started. Al Capone was born on January 17th 1899 in Brooklyn New York he was born into a poor immigrant household with his father and mother and 8 siblings. His parents worked at a bakery and his siblings seemed to be on the right track. But when Al Capone was enrolled in 6th grade he was sent to the principal's office for hitting a teacher. Valentine's Day Massacre. No one could prove capone was behind it but everyone had a hunch that he did. So the government searched his luxurious apartment and found info about his income taxes. Capone was sentenced to 11 years in alcatraz for income tax evasion that he did not pay for 7 years. Normally he would not have gotten charged for income tax evasion on illegal income. But that changed when the supreme court ruled that money made from illegal activities was taxable and Capone did not file taxes. Capone lived in Alcatraz for 11 years and when he got out he fell ill with Neurosyphilis and died from his disease on january 25 1947. HISTORICAL IMPACT - Al Capone will make a lasting legacy as the king of prohibition era chicago. Al Capone's legacy will be a lasting one for years. He dominated prohibition era chicago running a very successful criminal enterprise. He will be remembered for many years to come for his ambition, power, money and his accomplishments like the st. valentine's day massacre. His name will live on in the pages of books and movies of the silver screen. But one thing is for sure. Al Capone will not be
