Air Defense Artillery in Vietnam War was rather small but had a very big impact on the outcome of the war. Even though there was a low threat of aerially raids due to North Vietnam having a very small air force the weapons and machinery used for ADA could also be used on ground units. There are many assets that were involved in ADA during the Vietnam War but they all played a part in the outcome whether big or small. The M-42A1 Duster is the most predominate piece of equipment during the war. It was equipped with twin 40mm cannons and one 7.62mm machine gun. Its main type of ammunition is 480 anti-aircraft rounds which could either be Armor-piercing tracer rounds or High explosive tracer rounds. This weapon is known for its high mobility and ability to shoot down enemy aircraft at short to medium range in the air. The rotary cannon it was equipped with could be set to fire as many as 3000 rounds per minute and as little as 1000 rounds a minute. This weapon was also able to be used as an asset to enemy combat land troops and has a high kill rate. During the war the Vietnamize had a rather small air force so the need for air defense at the time was low but there was still the chance of attack from the air so us as innovators created equipment that is able to combat land and air troops so we could be prepared for any sector of attack weather air or land. Air Defense played as big part in the war for North Vietnamize as well. Not only did they have great anti-air capabilities for the size (which had no more than 700 anti-air weapons) of their air force they used them to their advantage.
