Becoming an advertising executive is being the prime creative force behind a campaign, able to point out when and where the tools to make it great for the campaign. The accountabilities that I will have as an advertising executive are investing less time in conferences and client conversations and more time putting my team heads together and discussing creative direction with the advertising teams. First you need to earn a bachelor's degree. Bachelor's degree programs in advertising, marketing, communications or related fields can provide a solid foundation for aspiring advertising account executives. As a student you will start to develop critical thinking skills while learning about different things like; consumer behavior, market research and the most effective strategies for various media platforms. Business courses provide the fundamental skills needed for sales, contract negotiation, proposal writing, networking and customer service. However, like any job you need work experience; entry-level jobs as assistant account executives are available for recent college graduates.
