There are many people in the world today who have changed the lives of many, even history because of their achievements from talent. For some, talent may come naturally, but for others, hard work and perseverance is key to their success. Along with the hard work and dedication, adversity is also a key factor that brings out skills and talents that could have lain dormant if that adversity was not present. Adversity builds character, for Jackie Robinson, Bill Gates and Stephen Hawking all had to overcome obstacles of diversity in order to achieve their goals. In a divided nation, where African Americans were deemed unequal among white Americans, Jackie Robinson, an African American became a baseball legend. Robinson was poor as a child and received unequal treatment throughout his life as an athlete, student and child. At a young age, Hawking began to suffer from ALS and the disease started to deteriorate the muscles in his body, which as a result affected his mobility and speech. Hawking’s disability gave him a headway into studying deeper in the field of science. As a result, Hawking has developed many respected theorem and ideas that have changed Hawking. Hawking already possessed skills and the knowledge, but because of his hurdles of adversity he was able to develop many more theorems and ideas that are applied today. Obviously, adversity plays a key role in developing character. Adversity not only developed character, but also added to the already talented individuals noted.
