Jackie Robinson was the first black baseball player to play in a world series, who proved that a national game should not bar blacks. When he first got into National baseball, Branch Rickey, the owner of the Brooklyn Dodgers, wanted to bring down the color barriers, so he decided to invite Robinson into his team to play in the baseball world series. Robinson had to face many obstacles such as resentment from his teammates, other teams and owners, bigoted white fans, loads of hate mail, and threats against him and his family. He stated, “Some of my own teammates refused to accept me because I was black.
