The legal and social transfer of all parental right, responsibilities, and roles from one parent or parents, usually biological, to a nonbiological parent or parents is the definition of adoption. In such a transfer, adoptive parents accept the same rights and responsibilities as the child’s birth parents would have had, while the child becomes a member of a family that provides the social, emotional, and physical nurturing that children needs to grow up to be healthy, functioning adults. When a couple or individual decides to adopt a child, they know they are going to take on the responsibility of taking care of someone else’s child. Due to the biological parent(s) who can’t take care of that child anymore, because of either drug abuse, alcohol abuse, abuse to the child or if the parent(s) had died and there is no other care for the child. So that’s why this gives other couples who cannot have kids, the opportunity to promise themselves to be a great parent to a child in need. Though there are some bad things about adoption as well. Like adopting a child from another country of another race, because once that child is adopted into an American family, he or she will be cut off from their culture and never know about their history. Everyone should to know about their culture and history.
Many potential adopted parents have experienced heartbreak, anguish and other problems that can be associated with adoption. There is an imbalance in the Nations foster care system and the system needs to be strengthening and the quality of services improved.
Adoption is a process where by a person assumes the parenting for another and, in so doing, permanently transfers all rights and responsibilities from the biological parent or parents. Unlike guardianship or other systems designed for the care of the young, adoption is intended to effect a permanent change in status and as such requires societal recognition, either through legal or religious sanction. Adoption has changed considerably over the centuries with its focus shifting from adult adoption and inheritance issues toward children and family creation; its structure moving from recognition of continuity between the adopted and kin toward allowing relationships of lessened intensity. In modern times, adoption is a primary vehicle serving the needs of homeless, neglected, abused and runaway children (Wikipedia, “Adoption”).
Sealed records for adoptees should be illegal due to the emotional, medical and the history of an adoptee. How is sealing a person’s life away upon any kinds of adoptions and never allowing them to know who they are, where they came from, and their medical background be close to right? How can being for sealed records ever help the ones who really need the support?
The topic of child welfare is quite a broad one. There are numerous programs and policies that have been put in place to protect children. One of these policies is that of Adoption. Adoption was put into place to provide alternate care for children who cannot live with their biological families for various reasons. One of the more controversial issues surrounding adoption is that of Transracial adoption. Transracial Adoption is the joining of racially different parents and children (Silverman, 1993).
Second parent adoption is an important tool utilized by same-sex couples in an effort to protect their parental rights in states where same sex marriage is not recognized. Although gay and lesbian paren...
As the prevalence of Autism continues to grow rapidly, it is proven fact that Autism is the fastest-growing serious developmental disability in the United States. “On March 27, 2014, this surveillance study identified one in sixty-eight children (one in forty-two boys and one in one-hundred eighty-nine girls) as having Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD).” (DSM-IV, 2000). Eight-hundred thousand people younger than eighteen years are on record as having Autism Spectrum Disorder in the United States. Most children display abnormalities within the first year of life; although most are diagnosed with Autism between the ages of two and three. Boys are nearly five times more likely than girls to have Autism. However, females with the disorder are more feasible to exhibit serious mental retardation. There are “approximately seventy-five percent of children with Autism are mentally handicapped; meaning their IQ ranges from thirty-five to fifty. According to the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders IV (DSM-IV, 2000) research suggests that only a small percentage of individuals with Autistic Disorder go on as adults to live and work independently.” ( DSM-IV, 2000)
Growing older and moving through the different stages of life is phenomenal. At times when I sit and think about this whole construct of life it becomes too over-whelming for my mind to contain / comprehend . The sheer process of getting older is an experience in itself. It could be compared to an ongoing experiment with the practical session being our life. Constantly testing theories and ideas we (are living) live according to the results. And as we reach conclusions based on the assessment of (our findings) results we only go on to question those results further down the line // because our mindset has shifted and the results now can be interpreted differently. (And so (life) it can feel like constant re-evaluation of the past according the person we are at any specific period in our life). I was oblivious to many things while growing up, especially regarding my parents. It's only as I've got older that I'm able to appreciate and acknowledge what they did for me. I don't believe I'm the only one in that respect. I think we're all susceptible to the condition called emotional immaturity and their friend the blindness of youth. One of the things I've realised about my parents was how pure they were in their intentions and part of that purity was their blindness to colour. I could have easily been another child writing this and that child being Black.
“Autism is not just one disorder, but a spectrum of closely related disorders with a shared core of symptoms” (Help guide 2013). Though it may vary in each person, autism effects the emotional, empathy, communication, flexible behavior and social skills. Autism also varies on the level of disability from one person to another, one child may show severe signs while the other you barely notice have this disorder. Sign and symptoms of autism are often ignored and passed off as a slight delay, and believe the child will grow out of it. When a child is seeming to lack socialization skills, not able to communicate, or show strange repetitive behavior continuously; the child should be tested. There is not a pin pointed cause of ASD, but it many researchers believe it has something to do with defected genes or incomplete development of the baby’s brain. (Proctor, Young- Adams 2013) If autism is caught when it in its very early stages it make a big difference and may help improve cognitive and social skills. More test are being added to the testing of the autism diagnostic schedule to ideally detect the disorder at around eighteen months. (NIH 2013) Mainly autism is diagnosed in two category, autistic (classic autism) or autism ...
...eatments have a vast effect on the people that possess these disorders and those who are surrounded by it. Early intervention and proper treatment is crucial for improving both severe and mild symptoms therefore, parents need to be attentive to any developmental interruptions that may suggest autism. Typically, if the diagnosis is found at an early age the better their treatment results. The outcome for children with Asperger’s Disorder is generally more promising than for those with autism (Cohen, Harold). Due to their higher level of intellectual functioning, many of these children successfully finish high school and attend college (Cohen, Harold). Successful treatment for individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorders can prove beneficial in the management of their disability, even though some may still struggle with social circumstances and personal relationships.
Homosexuality is becoming more and more accepted and integrated into today’s society, however, when it comes to homosexuals establishing families, a problem is posed. In most states, homosexuals can adopt children like any other married or single adult. There are many arguments to this controversial topic; some people believe that it should be legal nationally, while others would prefer that is was banned everywhere, or at least in their individual states. There are logical reasons to allow gays to adopt children, but for some, these reasons are not enough. The main issue really is, what is in the best interest of the child? This type of problem isn’t really one with causes, effects, and solutions, but one with pros and cons. Like any other adoption situation, a parent prove themselves to be responsible and capable enough to raise a child on their own, or with a spouse.
What is adoption? Adoption is a legal process by which permanent legal custody is transferred from the birth parent to other parents. In this case Adoption is the process of making a child your own. Adoption is usually a process from non-biological parents. There are far more people wanting to adopt babies than there are babies to be adopted, only about twenty thousand babies a year are put up to be adopted, if an adoption agency places your baby up for an adoption only the best fit family can choose to adopt your child. All adoptions involve some form of consent – an agreement by the birth parent that the child should be adopted. If there are no living birth parents or the child was abandoned, then the consent must be given by the state or country where the child is a resident. Kinship adoptions occur when the birth parents are unstable to care for a child and some member of the child’s family seeks to adopt him or her.
...ndation) The poem goes on to talk about how she loves every piece of her husband. Sonnet 43 expresses how openly and freely she trusts her husband. Elizabeth explains the powerful feeling of loving someone. Her being able to write Sonnet 43 shows the extent of her love towards her husband. Elizabeth also wrote Sonnet 14, which explains that love should not be for a specific reason but real love is for love. The poem also goes into details about one loving a person for who they are and not for a particular deed. Sonnet 14 and several other poems were dedicated to Robert Browning. Over all, Elizabeth was admired for her independence and courage. The Browning’s were well respected in Italy. Her social consciousness drove much of her late canon towards realism. Elizabeth Browning was the most prominent poet of the Victorian Era. . (Encyclopedia of Feminist Literature)
Divorce is acceptable when the husband or wife continually commits adultery and does not change their behavior. Also, if one of them is abusive towards them or their children, whether it is emotional or physical hurt, divorce may be justified. If somebody in the marriage is addicted to drugs or alcohol and it causes harm to other people and they refuse to get help, divorce should also be considered. Unfortunately, some time ago divorce was only granted if there was proof of adultery, abuse, or addictions. This was unfortunate for those who did not have proof but knew what was going on. Proof or evidence was usually based upon gossip and only obtained by a man with high status in his community. Divorce is now a means of equality and a way to end abuse and unacceptable
Early thought processes concerning education laid the groundwork for the modern philosophy of education, including university structures and frameworks. What our ancients have advocated is said to be the cause of every century’s success in continually gaining knowledge. But Plato and Aristotle had very different opinions when it came to the education branch of life.
