Poetry is art, and art was the Romantic period. The romantic period was dramatically different than the colonial period. They focused heavily on emotions, art, and everything beautiful in life besides the struggles of life as a colonist. Something I learned from this unit about the romantic period was that people were optimists and tried to make everything seem better than it really was or could be. During the romantic period major themes that were brought up time and time again were democracy, transcendence and imagination.
