I am so thankful for being a student at the University of South Carolina and graduating from the greatest college at my school, the College of Education. Internship II grew me into the teacher I want to be. Through evaluation and grading using ADEPT, I have learned and grew to become a well-rounded teacher. APS 10 is a great indication of my growth. It allows aspiring teachers to reflect and evaluate their student teaching experience. It also lays out required qualities to be a great teacher. Below I will discuss and explain the key elements of APS 10 and how I accomplished them during internship II.

Key Element 10.A: Advocate for students.
On my first day at PHMS, I shared my philosophy and beliefs about teaching with my students. I wanted them to know that I am, and will always be on their side because I want them to succeed in everything they do. There are many times I was an advocate for my students. I have learned that middle school bullying can be a lot more complex than elementary school bullying. Whenever I thought bullying was occurring (or might occur) I would use it as teaching moment. I have grown such a great rapport with my students especially ones who were victims or accusers of bullying. For example on April 12, 2016 one of my students was crying in the girl’s bathroom. We discussed the issue and I gave her solutions to help her continue to be a great student and a well-rounded individual. I was grateful for that experience and moment with my student because it reaffirmed to me that building relationships with your students is very important.
