ACPA Ambassador Application

1. Why are you applying to be an Ambassador? What do you hope to get out of this experience?
I am applying to be an ACPA Ambassador to become a liaison between Clemson University and ACPA. I’m also applying because Dr. Havice (our student affairs department head) felt I would be great fit as an Ambassador representing Clemson University. This same sentiment was echoed by another professor in our leadership department here at Clemson.
If I am selected as an Ambassador, I hope this role will afford me the opportunity to create connections between the Clemson and the ACPA community; both on a regional and national level. Moreover, I hope this experience will provide me networking opportunities with other students with career aspirations in the student affairs arena. ...f committee/listserv/network? If yes, are you a member or able to solicit and disseminate information to this group? If no, would you be willing to start one?
Yes, Clemson has a listserv for all PhD students in the educational leadership department, but this listserv does not include the master’s program students in student affairs. As it stands now, there is very little communication between the two programs. I am a member of the PhD listserv, I could use the list serve as a tool to disseminate information as an ACPA Ambassador. However, I think the benefits of creating a new listserv are far greater. In doing so, I could target all students in the student affairs program/students with aspirations of working in student affairs in the doctoral program, along with new student affairs professionals here at Clemson. This method would be more strategic in my opinion.
