Family Case Study: A Walk to Remember
The purpose of this paper is to assess the health status and functioning of a family in the movie, A Walk to Remember. A nursing diagnosis will also be developed for the family along with interventions based on the diagnosis. A comprehensive assessment of the family will be analyzed, which will include physiological, psychological, environmental, sociocultural, and health care factors. An ecomap will also be used to show how the family interacts with the community and the effect on the family. The paper will focus on the family in the film and not the film itself.

Her mother died of causes that were not explained to the viewer. The main physiologic problem was with Jamie. Jamie had leukemia. She found out about her illness at the age of 16, and she had stopped responding to treatment. Even with her incurable illness, her family still showed their love and support for her. Jamie did not let her illness cripple her and she carried on with life as if nothing was happening. Reverend Sullivan did everything to make sure that Jamie was comfortable. Her father was very protective of her since she was his only daughter and he had already lost his wife. Their house was located in a quiet neighborhood in a small town of North Carolina. The house seemed like a suitable living space for Jamie and her father. There was nothing that suggested any safety hazards in the home or in the community. The area was pretty peaceful. As Jamie became sicker, she was also getting weaker and there was more potential for hazard due to the stairs and the amount of having to walk around the house.
