Do you live in a remote area? Are you aware of the resources your community has to offer? Many people have no idea or do not take advantage of the services their town has to offer. So, it is important to educate them on this subject. The purpose of this paper is to discuss some programs available to citizens in a city. I reside in West Milton, Ohio with a population of 4,676 residents. I moved here for the small town atmosphere; however, as I grow older I wonder if this was a good decision. Those issues can be addressed with the involvement of a care manager. A nurse is a crucial liaison between medical providers and families. By knowing the community resources, the nurse can make the appropriate referrals. Through listening and compassion, they can serve all members of the family. In conclusion, community resources are a valuable asset to any town. The family nurse is an extremely essential liaison between the community, family, and medical providers. It is important to educate the population on services available to them. A nurse can help by participating in local screenings, educating the municipality, and making appropriate referrals. Being involved in the community will strengthen the nurse’s knowledge, and give an understanding to their patient’s needs.
