A Not So Perfect Family

As society changes, so does everything in it. From the books we read to the movies we watch, the music we listen to, and the clothes we buy. Everything changes. One thing that affects us most though is the family environment we grow up in. There are so many challenges families face today and they all impact us and the way we shape our society. No family is perfect, though it may look like it from the outside.
One major issue facing families today is domestic violence. This is taking place behind closed doors and is rarely discussed. It is happening with a growing numbers of families, and the affect can be devastating. Domestic violence can be described as a pattern of behavior that is used by to gain control or dominate another person. Whether it is the husband dominating the wife, the wife controlling the husband, or a parent(s) domineering the children. It can come be shown through many forms such as physical, psychological, emotional, or sexual actions or threats that can intimidate, manipulate, humiliate, isolate, frighten, or wound someone. Anyone can be a victim of domestic violence men, women, and children. It can also happen in same-sex relationships. No one is immune. Research has shown that one in four women will experience domestic violence during their lifetime. Women experience more than four million physical assaults and men are victims of nearly three million (Domestic Violence: Statistics & Facts., 2014).
Domestic violence not only affects the abused, it can have substantial impact on family members, friends, co-workers, and the community. The family is affected in many ways. ...e effects, every challenge presents an opportunity. So while no family is perfect, each family had the opportunity to be as perfect as they can be.
