Choosing the right friends impacts how ones future is shaped. Not everyone agrees that their friends can have an influence on them, but actually friends are one of the biggest impacts on one’s life. Individuals often think of themselves as independent, but in reality they are dependent on their friends. They can impact one’s lifestyle by making it more positive, teaching how to be a true friend, and showing a reflection of oneself.
The right friends can make a person’s life better. These relationships can even have emotional effects; they are “… part of this relationship that is so key to your emotional well-being.” (Klam 218). People make friends to get help on the roller coaster of emotions that is called life.
Friends are people one can trust. They are there to provide encouragement and to be ones support system. The main benefit of friendship is having people to whom one can vent to, good or bad. This builds trust between two individuals. When this trust is built deep into a relationship, friends can support one another when one is feeling down.
They can also show the strengths of a person when one is feeling weak. That is the thing about life; everything might be going fine but then all of a sudden life decides to turn completely around. These rapid changes on the surface can make people go into a slump. With friends, however, these slumps are not so bad, because someone is alongside to catch those that stumble along the way. ...Friends who try to control others should not be allowed into one’s inner circle. They are not the type of people that should be influencing others, but they can if people allow them to do so. A good friend can have many of these qualities, but if they do not have any influence on a person, than they really are not that good of a friend.
Choosing the right friends impacts how ones future is shaped. Good friends will bring out the best in each other, provide encouragement in tough times, and help each other make good choices. A good friend can have many of these qualities, but if they do not have any influence on a person, than they really are not that good of a friend. The best kind of friend can and will affect someone positively, no matter what. One should treasure a true friendship and choosing the right friends will greatly benefit ones present and ones future.
