A Confident, Loyal, Intelligent Leader

700 Words2 Pages

Leaders are people who show confidence in themselves and their country, loyalty in the country they are leading, and intelligence in everyday life. Confidence is a key point in being a leader. Without confidence a leader cannot lead his country. He will not be able to lead the country and stand up for what is best for the country unless he has the confidence to do so. Loyalty in a country is also a big part of being a leader. A leader cannot be loyal only to himself. If he is only loyal to himself, the country will crumble under his reign. To be intelligent is to be able to outsmart any opponent. A leader must be intelligent enough to know what is going on in the country and beat anyone that endangers his country. Between Lady Macbeth and Macduff, both show they have the qualities of confidence, loyalty, and intelligence; however, in the end, Macduff is a better leader.
While Macduff is confident in himself and Scotland, Lady Macbeth is overconfident in herself and believes that even as she kills, nothing can stop her. Lady Macbeth needs to be confident in husband’s ability to lead Scotland without her help. She is only confident in herself and does not trust Macbeth. Lady Macbeth is overconfident in herself when she says, “Come, you spirits that tend on mortals thoughts, unsex me her and fill me, from the crown to the toe, top-full of direst cruelty” (24). She is asking the spirits to take away her femininity so she can be more ruthless. In doing so she becomes more confident that she will be able to murder and get away with the crime. Macduff, on the other hand, is confident in his ability to overcome Macbeth’s rule and ultimately make Scotland a better place, but is not overconfident. Macduff is confident in Malcolm an...

While Macduff and Lady Macbeth are intelligent, loyal and confident: it is Macduff that would make the better leader. He is confident, not only in himself without being over confident, but also in his country. He is loyal to the country, not to himself or to his spouse. And Macduff is intelligent. He is able to use the skill and knowledge he has to defeat Macbeth and get Malcolm into the throne of Scotland. So in all, Macduff would be the better leader between the two because he shows confidence, loyalty, and intelligence.
