On October 13th I was fortunate enough to be able to interview Sandi Lopez. Lopez is from Grand Island, Nebraska and has also lived in Kansas for a few years. At first she was not quite sure on what to do with her career pathway. She wanted a job where she could be able to help others and her community. Lopez says that having many of her friends being police officers is what got her more into law enforcement. She says hanging out around her friends telling her stories about being officers made her really want to be a part of the law enforcement department. Kristen Heather Strickland was born November 13th, 1967 in Fall River Massachusetts. She was the eldest child of her parents, Richard and Claudia Strickland. “Kristen was the oldest growing up in what seemed to be a well-adjusted home. Kristen lived her early years to preteen years without any problems, including during school and at home with family” (Jakclyn Rankin, 2013). Ashley Davis is a 14 year-old, brown-skinned, African-American, masculine presenting female. Ashley’s mother reports that patient is defiant, especially toward her and other authority figures. Mother reports that Ashley’s behavior disrupts the family, her ability to achieve in school and has landed her in legal trouble. Mother reports that the Ashley began to exhibit sexually promiscuous behavior starting as early as 9 years old. Her reason for referral and placement on the unit was due to Ashley’s mother, finding her and her twin brother naked together in a sexualized position, all while trying to record this interaction. When the mother questioned both Ashley and her brother, it seemed as though the Ashley was the aggressor.
Education regarding unit or group thinking is to be encouraged and reinforced. The fact that newborn Rosarie will be entering the home poses unique challenges that will require all members of the family to work together. Maria, Jamie, and Alice must be educated on the signs and symptoms of respiratory distress in the newborn and interventions that must be initiated when distress occurs. The nurse responsible for this teaching must require both verbalization and return demonstration of skills learned to ensure proper reception of the information. Once skills are developed by the adults within the home, the remaining children should then be educated on the signs and symptoms as well and actively participate in care. Involving the entire family will bring a cohesive thinking, and allow the family to work as a unit. A marriage counseling referral should as be provided to Maria and Jamie in order for them to work out their existing issues improving their likelihood of a successful marriage. Routine “check in’s” (phone calls, visits, etc.) should be in place for the family both by social services and pediatricians. In addition, community outreach programs (food banks, cultural organizations, etc.) are designed to support families like the Perez’s, nurses working within the community should tell these families about these resources

Jen Welter got a six-week coaching internship with the Arizona Cardinals of the NFL, working with linebackers and also becoming a trailblazer in the field. The organization has always been known for hiring minorities for their management positions. Known as Dr. Jen back in Texas, for her Ph.d in psychology, she became the first woman to coach for a men’s professional team last February. She was a linebacker for 14 years, most of which being with the Dallas Diamonds of the Women’s Football Alliance. She has also won two gold medals for the United States at the International Federation of American Football women’s world championships. On this date and time this caseworker met with Amanda Grimes at her residence. At this time this caseworker observed Kenna in her mother's arms. The meeting was to address CYS concerns regarding Jamiles leaving home without permission during the middle of February to see her mother. Donna wanted to verify the acquisition because she was unsure of what to believe from Lesley (Jamiles mother). The meeting was also to establish an appropriate after care-plan for Jamiles once MSTT close services. Jamiles did state she went to her mother's home at that time because she was feeling alone. Jamiles explained she believed Jocelyn has started to show more favoritism toward the other foster care child in the home because she is pregnant. Chloe Valentine lived in Ingle Farm with her mother Ashlee Polkinghorne, 23 and her mother’s partner Benjamin McPartland, 28 . Together they thought it was a good joke to force Chloe to drive a motorbike three times her weight . The motorbike was a 50cc dirt bike of 50kg while Chloe only weighed 17kg . Chloe’s estimated speed on the motorbike while driving was 40km/hr . During this time she became unconscious after falling off the motorbike numerous times and was only submitted into the Women’s and Children’s Hospital eight hours and a half after the incident .
